Papillomatosis/ Wart:

It's a typical case of Papillomatosis/ Wart. The causal agent is a virus named after the Papilloma virus. Most of the cases are found in Tarakanda Upazila, Mymensingh. It's a severe form of wart from where blood oozing from the lesion.

Virus Transmission:

The virus may transmit via direct contact or vectors like flies, mosquitoes, and other ectoparasites.

Prevalence Rate:

40–50% in that locality.

Morbidity & Mortality:

70–80% morbidity rate & mortality rate quite low in this case. But the animal has to suffer much.

Clinical Signs & Symptoms:

  • Normal to medium range fever
  • All cardinal signs are almost normal but may vary in some cases.
  • The lesion looks like a tumor called papilloma. The characteristics of the area, hard to feel, rough, thickening of the surface of the papilloma.
  • Sometimes ruptured of the wart and bleeding may occur.
  • Anorexia is common in all diseases.
  • Discomfort and drowsiness, etc.

Diagnosis:

Simply this disease can be directed and confirmed by seeing the lesion. In some cases,

ELISA, PCR, and other serological tests may need to confirm the diagnosis.

Differential Diagnosis:

Cow Pox, Lumpy Skin Disease ( LSD ), Hypersensitivity, etc.

Treatment:

  1. Autohemotherapy: Collect 10 mo blood from the jugular vein and inject it into the deep muscle.
  2. Auto genus vaccine: Preparation should be prepared in a laboratory following protocol.
  3. Anthiomaline IM injection.
  4. Surgical removal of the wart.
  5. Other supportive treatment should be given.

Advice:

The owner should be in contact with a registered veterinarian immediately after observing the symptoms of the disease to prevent the loss of huge economical loss.
